How to Use an Acupressure Mat

The Acupressure Mat is a new idea steeped in traditional eastern
philosophy. Going back to the principles of the ancient bed of nails,
this mat is a modern acupressure type aid. The Mat is made of a high
quality cotton with 231 plastic buttons containing 27 points each.
These points work on up to 6000 pressure points all over the body to
promote well being and healing. Of course, to get the full benefit you
should learn the proper way to use the mat.

HOW TO USE

You need to place your Acupressure mat on your bed or similar soft
surface or just on the floor. If you are going to begin at the neck, it
is a good idea to use a rolled up towel or neck pillow to support the
mat and your neck. Find a comfortable position to lie in making sure
your skin is making contact with the acupressure points. At this point,
you need to relax and concentrate on breathing deeply.

Some people are extremely sensitive to pain and if this describes you,
begin with a thin sheet or towel between your skin and the mat. You
should be aware this will lessen the effects of the mat, but you can
gradually work up to full contact.

We recommend you spend at least 15-20 minutes on the mat for each
session. You can increase this if you wish.. There is no harm in
spending more time on the mat; in fact many people actually fall
asleep.

You can use the mat anytime you feel is necessary but try to use it at
least once a day.

Once you have completed a session on the mat you should rest, relax and
have a drink of water.

How to Clean

Cleaning your mat is not difficult but it must be done by hand, as
machine washing would damage it. Use a mild detergent and wash your mat
in lukewarm water followed by hanging up to dry.

Traveling

Traveling is just one more opportunity to enjoy the relaxation of the
Acupressure mat. The foam insert can be left at home if you plan to use
the mat on a bed and this will lighten your travel load considerably.

An Acupressure Mat is able to be used on most areas of the body.
However this mat is good for the knees, hips and even facial muscles.

Back

It is especially helpful when you lie on your back. The spine is comprised

Thighs

The most common way to use the mat is to lie on it with your neck and

As you lie down onto the mat, the sensation can be a little
uncomfortable. The secret is to lie straight down onto it and not to
hesitate – it’s the hesitant touches of the spikes

feel uncomfortable. Once the mat is holding your weight evenly, there
is no discomfort, instead there is a quite unique sensation of warmth.

However, if you feel the points too much to begin with, use a thin
cloth, you will find that after a couple of sessions you will not need
this.

that can be experienced whilst meditating on the mat is divine. The
